Organization tips needed
Mer, I figure you might have some really good ideas for this. I need some help. I have a 3-drawer craft caddy/tower thing which was organized way before kids. In one drawer I keep all of their markers, crayons, paint pens, etc. I need a neat way to keep the things inside the drawer tidy. The drawer is tall enough for the crayons to stand up in a cup or something but not enough for the markers. Any ideas?? I think we would use more of what's in there if we could actually see it!

Maybe you can get a pencil box and put the markers in that and then that in the drawer?
oh dee dee, if you saw my craft bin right now, you'd die laughing. i was looking at it earlier today thinking that i need a block of time to get it re-organized.
i was going to say a pencil box too. i keep our colored pencils in that, but i keep our markers and crayons in a big plastic shoebox (rubbermaid with a snap-on lid--about a $1 at Walmart). it's just a little bigger and holds a bunch of those fat crayola markers which we seem to have an abundance of. if there's room in your craft drawer, you might use two or more...one for crayons, one for markers, etc.
or...what about those plastic baskets that you use to organize drawers.
for other things like play dough, floam, magnets, popsicle sticks, beads (oh my, we have so many beads), I use the ziploc containers. i like them because they stack and also because you can see through them. (plus, they're pretty cheap).
ziploc bags are good for things like that too. for some reason though, they seem to be a little harder for kids to hold open AND fill at the same time...which makes me a fan of the ziploc containers.
Hey Dee Dee, thanks for the question. I got some good ideas from this as well. I was just going to say that I use Ziploc bags for things like markers, crayons, etc. especially inside of a drawer. I use them for the description Meredith gave. Other than Caleb, the kids can't get in them without me. The other things that I have used always ended up in the same mess, because they would get into them without me and the drawers would end up in the mess they started in. My craft drawers need to be emptied and the contents thrown away. We need to start over. Maybe one day...!
